The days are beginning to shorten. The evenings have a different feeling now, the first leaves are turning, and the orchard is slowly moving towards autumn.
At Monimail, we love this time of year. There is something about the changing seasons here that makes you want to gather together – to light a fire, listen to music, walk through the woods, share food and drink, and celebrate what the land has given us.
So, as summer gives way to autumn, we have three special gatherings coming up at the Tower.
🔥 Equinox Bonfire – Sunday 20 September
We will gather around the fire to mark the autumn equinox and the turning of the year.
Come and spend an afternoon and evening at Monimail as we say goodbye to summer and welcome the darker half of the year. There will be fire, good company and the particular magic of the Tower and its grounds as daylight fades.
We meet from 13:00 ish with some volunteer work to help prepare the grounds for the upcoming seasons and finish with fire and potluck dinner.
Bring something warm to wear, something to eat to share if you like, and come ready to gather around the fire.
🎵 Music by the Tower – Saturday 26 September
A week later, we gather again – this time for an evening of music.
Rhuari, a songwriter from Fife/Dundee, will be sharing music from his new album, written and recorded over the past year while travelling around the country. His songs are closely connected to nature, travel and the experience of finding ways to look after ourselves while living on the road.
Come and listen to the music in the unique surroundings of Monimail Tower, as the evenings draw in and autumn settles around us.
The event is free, but please contact Rhuari if you would like to come.

🍎 Apple Day – Sunday 11 October
And then, as autumn properly arrives, comes our favourite celebration of all: Apple Day.
The orchard at Monimail has always been at the heart of what we do. Every year, we gather to celebrate the apples, the trees and the abundance of the garden – and, of course, to turn mountains of apples into delicious fresh juice.
Bring your own apples to juice, or simply come along and enjoy the day and go home with juice from our apples (bring bottles to fill in please). There will be plenty to see and do, and a chance to spend time in the orchard, meet friends old and new, and experience Monimail at one of the most beautiful times of the year.
This year Monimal Apple Day is again part of the festival, this time Fife Climate Youth Festival by Fife Climate Action and YMCA
Apple Day has become something of a Monimail tradition, and we would love you to join us again this year.
Three events, three different ways of experiencing Monimail – around the fire, through music, and amongst the apple trees.
We hope you can join us for one, two, or all three.
Come and watch the seasons turn with us.
