A huge thank you for those of you who showed up last Sunday for the equinox bonfire. We cleared the terrace from the remaining bushes, remnants of the old hutting time and regrowing laurel.
And why do we clear the terrace? We want to prevent any big trees or bushes to grow on the terrace to protect the listed walls, both the one along the orchard and the one holding the terrace together. And as this is a south-western exposed wall, it can be a great place for more fruit trees: apples, pears and maybe quince. There are still remnants of the wall nails once holding the fruit trees to the wall.
We also clreared all the old tree guards from the woods, piled and sorted them out. Ready for the donation for the next year tree planting season.
Last but not least, thank you all for bringing cider to taste. I counted 8 different types plus 2 types of vegetable wines.
