Experience a fun, sociable outdoor sketching and painting session for either a half, or full day, with demonstrations, tuition and feedback from me, Steve, throughout.
Saturday 10th August 2024
10am-1pm & 2pm-5pm
THE VENUE
Monimail Tower and the surrounding orchards and woodlands are a hidden gem tucked away in rural Fife, maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers. The Tower itself dates from the 13th century and has a permanent exhibition that tells of its astonishing history. You’ll even have the chance to paint the wonderful views from the rooftop! There’s lots of shelter to work under if the weather gets a bit wet. You’ll find Monimail near the village of Letham in Fife KY15 7RJ. To find out more and SEE MY VIDEO OF THE LOCATION, press here.
PAINTING LEVEL
This session is for adults at all levels, but if you’ve little experience of drawing or painting, I’d advise you attend a technique recap/familiarisation session in my Glenrothes studio before you come. Ask me if you’re unsure of your ability.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
You’ll need to bring your own art materials (I’ll supply a suggested kit list) and a packed lunch if staying for the day. I concentrate on using watercolour and mixed media, and charcoal for drawing, but feel free to bring what equipment you like to use. I’ll have easels and drawing boards on hand should you wish to use them, and a few basic art materials if you’ve forgotten to bring something with you.
THE FOCUS
I’ll suggest subjects, but feel free to choose what motivates you. You’ll be developing your confidence to compose the elements for your picture, and simplifying what you see, encouraging you to develop a drawing and painting style that suits you as an individual. Also, experiment with techniques you’re maybe not used to using yet.
Hot & cold drinks and snacks available throughout the day. Don’t forget to bring your packed lunch though, if staying for the whole day!
COST
£30 for the morning session only, £50 for both the morning and afternoon sessions. Please email st***@*********el.com if interested, and I’ll send booking details for payment by bank transfer, along with the suggested kit list of items you’ll need to bring with you.
